Top 5 Beautiful Places to Visit in Lagos
1. Freedom Park
Are you looking to explore beauty through history and art, especially in a tranquil environment? Freedom Park is your go-to option. One of the most unique things you’ll discover about the park is its history, which has labelled it as a notable tourist gem in Lagos, attracting visitors from within and outside Nigeria. It comprises prison cells, memorial walls, an amphitheatre (then prison cells for women), fish ponds, and outdoor spaces to unwind and enjoy local dishes.
There are so many other things to do apart from having a view of history. The park also tops the list when it comes to fun, as it offers a series of recreational activities. And there you go, a perfect mix of history, art, and recreation to refresh your mind.

2. National museum, Onikan
The National Museum at Onikan is also a beautiful place to visit, but in all you do, you can’t take pictures the moment you step into the vicinity because it’s not allowed. It serves as a home to numerous artifacts, and you get to hear the stories behind every relic, which just takes you back to an era you never lived through, like you were there, at least that was how I felt.
Their origins can be traced back to ancient places like Old Lagos, Nok, Igbo Ukwu, Ife, and Benin. A notable example is an artifact from the ancient Nok Culture, the Jemaa Head, a terracotta human head.
Location: Onikan Rd, Ikoyi, Lagos 102273, Lagos
Opens: Only Monday- Saturday from 9:30 am–3:30 pm
3. Lekki Conservation Centre
Not to brag (but I will), I am so proud to be a Nigerian. Have you ever stepped into a place and wondered if you’re still on earth? Yes, Nigeria is endowed with such places, and a perfect example is Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos. For me, what tops the list of the most beautiful things I love about the Lekki Conservation Centre is that it serves as a home to Africa’s longest canopy pathway. If you’re scared of heights, please, you can sit it out to avoid sad stories that touch the heart, but if you feel you’re daring enough, you can give it a try.
At the centre, there are boardwalks to take you through the wetlands. There are a whole lot of other things to experience, like the wildlife and the treehouse cabin that you can explore with friends and family. It’s a great view up there.
You get to behold different species of animals like monkeys, birds, and crocodiles, among others. The monkeys are friendly to humans, and you might find yourself resisting the urge to touch them.

4. LUFASI Nature Park – Lekki Urban Forestry and Animal Shelter Initiative
When you hear of nature and a park, what comes to mind? Yes, a park where you can view the glory of nature and its breathtaking beauty. It’s another place where you get to witness lush greenery, wildlife, and engage in recreational activities. The park was also created for educational purposes, serving as a field laboratory for schools and researchers. Another nice thing about the park is that it caters to all ages, so if you’re concerned about your children having fun, LUFASI Park has got you covered. Children get to tirelessly enjoy at the play park while adults also get to play games at the adult game area, it’s a win-win for everyone, especially during family picnics.
Believe me, you’ll also love the lake view as you go on a forest tour!

5. Jakande Art market
Hold up, all you’re probably thinking of is the ‘market’ and all the oozing stench that comes from a typical market. This is different, the Jakande art market is a lively and beautiful spot where the sales of art collections and pieces take place. You get to experience and appreciate art and culture, which are seen in various pieces like precious stones, waist beads, paintings, and African baskets, among others. There’s a wide range of aesthetics to pick from and buy at affordable prices. Just so you don’t get lost in confusion, the market is also referred to as Lekki Art Gallery.
