The search for the 46-year-old head football coach of Union High School’s Bears, Travis L Turner, has the Appalachian, Virginia community in growing distress.
Turner disappeared from his home on November 20th, last seen walking into a nearby forest in glasses, grey sweatpants, and a hoodie.
He was part of an ongoing investigation, and when the Virginia State Police officers went to his house hours later, he was still missing from his home.
The police officials clarified that they did not go to his house to place him under arrest, and there were no charges brought up against him.
Search and rescue units were deployed on Sunday as he was officially declared missing and put into the state police’s missing persons database.
Drones and K9 teams were also included in searching for him across the high landscape. VSP Officer Jason Day says, “We have had the drones up in the air looking”.
Leslie Caudill Turner, Turner’s wife, appealed to the online community, saying, “Travis is missing, and that’s all we know. We love him and need him home with us.”
People who knew him are supporting the family with efforts to search for him, prayers, and kindness during this difficult time.
As the head football coach of Union High School’s Bears, Turner had led the team to an undefeated 11-0 regular season.
The Union’s Bears have continued to push forward under the leadership of interim coach Jay Edwards, earning them a 12-0 playoff win.
The search for Travis L Turner continues, and the Virginia State Police urges anyone with information to contact them at 540-444-7788.
