The Cadillac community is shocked at the horrible details of the demise of Rebecca Park, a 22-year-old pregnant woman who went missing in early November.
Her disappearance brought about weeks of several searches and vigils for her safe return.
This week, authorities have confirmed the fear of many, naming Rebecca’s birth mother, Cortney Bartholomew, and stepfather, Bradly Bartholomew, as responsible for her brutal murder.
Authorities stated that the couple drew her into their house, dragged her into a car, and took her far into the Manistee National Forest.
On getting there, they allegedly cut into her pregnant stomach and brought out her unborn baby, thereby killing both her and her child.
The pair were denied bail, and the judge called the accusations “beyond disturbing.”
Rebecca’s loved ones filled up the courtroom, holding up placards that read “Justice 4 Rebecca and Baby Park.”
The family that adopted and raised her said she had “everything to live for,” which includes two young sons who are now in their care.
Even though Rebecca’s body was found on November 25, the baby has not been found.
The search is still ongoing, and community members are hosting vigils, rallies, and fundraisers to help support her children.
Park’s case, which has been labeled “pure evil” by neighbours, shocked Northern Michigan to the core.
As the investigation goes on, the message that is echoing across the region is that Rebecca Park will never be forgotten.
