Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced a minor cabinet reshuffle and redeployment of top civil servants as part of his government’s plan to improve service delivery.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, the governor said the changes would help strengthen governance and ensure ministries deliver better results.
One of the key changes is the movement of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi, to the Ministry of Transport. Also, the Solicitor General, Mustapha Muhammad, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Environment as Permanent Secretary.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, who was temporarily overseeing the Ministry of Transport, will now return fully to her main role.
“All officials affected must hand over to the most senior officers in their ministries before close of business on Tuesday, September 23, 2025,” the statement directed.
Governor Yusuf explained that the reshuffle was done to “maximize capacity, align responsibilities, and ensure accountability.” He urged all staff to give full cooperation to the new office holders.
Meanwhile, the state also began training 380 volunteer youths out of 600 recruited for the Special Anti-Phone Snatching and VIP Protection Guards. The training, which will last two weeks, is part of efforts to curb phone snatching, thuggery, and other crimes in Kano.
