Sabrina Carpenter is making waves with her latest album Man’s Best Friend, and she’s given fans a light-hearted warning ahead of its release: “It’s not for the pearl clutchers.”
The pop singer’s seventh studio album dropped today, August 29, and it’s already stirring up excitement with bold tracks like “Manchild” and “Tears.”
“Manchild” sees Carpenter calling out inept men, while the video for “Tears” takes her usual playful innuendo to a more direct, unapologetic level.
Speaking to Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Sabrina agreed that her music might make some people uncomfortable but added that even those who might be shocked could still find something to enjoy in solitude.
“It’s sexual. It’s also very powerful. It’s also very vulnerable,” she said, highlighting the layered themes in her work.
Carpenter reflected on the empowering nature of her lyrics and how young women, especially, can connect with the songs at her concerts.
She emphasized the fun, freeing nature of the album and how it’s meant to bring enjoyment, even if some listeners feel it’s “TMI.”
Alongside the album’s release, Carpenter’s recent headline performance at BST Hyde Park earned rave reviews, and she continues to rise as one of the brightest stars in modern pop.
With exciting collaborations on the horizon, including a feature on Taylor Swift’s upcoming album, Sabrina’s journey to superstardom seems unstoppable.
