The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a notorious ‘one chance’ gang leader and two of his members during a robbery attempt in Ikeja.
The suspects, identified as Bode Oludayisin (53), Michael Sowunmi (22), and David Olawaye (20), were caught inside an unregistered minibus, popularly called Korope, while attempting to rob a passenger along Agege Motor Road.
Police said Oludayisin is a wanted kingpin linked to several violent robberies across the state.
The arrest happened after a victim raised an alarm, drawing the attention of officers on patrol who quickly intercepted the vehicle.
During the search, officers recovered a Tecno Spark 20 phone stolen from a victim, an axe, heavy stones, interlock bricks, and a broken bottle, items believed to have been used to intimidate passengers. The gang’s Korope was also impounded.
Police explained that the suspects usually operate by posing as drivers and passengers, picking up unsuspecting commuters from crowded areas like Oshodi, then diverting to isolated places where victims are threatened and robbed.
Lagos Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the suspects are in custody, while investigations continue to track down fleeing members.
Residents are urged to avoid unmarked vehicles and report suspicious activity immediately.
