There have been numerous online reactions to the United States reducing the validity of non-immigrant U.S. visas for Nigerians.
The U.S Mission in Nigeria has, however, taken to social media to properly debunk these claims. In its release, it explains that the change is part of a global review of the United States’ visa policies and not in any way related to Nigeria’s position on the third-country deportees, e-visa policies, and even the nation’s connection to the BRICS.
They explained that the shorter validity is a result of the ongoing U.S global visa review policies of the Trump administration.
According to the organization, the review is part of a rule to protect the United States’ immigration system.
The U.S Mission has unequivocally stated that they are committed to working closely with Nigeria to meet and keep required standards, ensuring that all are safe during travels.
