The community at the Northstar California Resort is very sad after two tragic ski accidents. Two men lost their lives on the advanced slopes just 11 days apart.
On February 15, 53-year-old Stuart McLaughlin passed away after a terrible crash with another skier on the Polaris trail. Ski patrol arrived within minutes to help, but sadly, he died at the scene. The other skier was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Just a few days earlier, on February 6, 26-year-old Nicholas Kenworthy had a serious accident on another advanced run called the Martis Trail. Rescue workers rushed to help, but he tragically passed away from his injuries.
The resort staff and visitors are completely heartbroken. Many people are leaving flowers and praying near the trail map to honor the two men. These sad losses remind everyone that even experienced skiers face very real risks on steep, fast-moving mountains.
