
Heartbreak and devastation grip the Edmonton Community after 14-year-old Samuel Bird, who went missing on the 1st of June, was found dead. Alanna Bird, mother of Samuel Bird, confirmed the news of her son’s death on social media, saying the remains of her son were eventually found after months of desperate searching.
Samuel was a member of Paul First Nation, was announced missing after leaving his home in West Edmonton to visit a friend. Footage from surveillance showed that he was last seen walking near Holy Cross School that evening, and that was the last sighting of Samuel.
Authorities had previously declared the case criminal, believing Samuel had been killed and his body hidden outside the city.
For months, everyone, including the authorities, ceaselessly searched for Samue, clinging to the hope that he would be found alive. His death has truly left the community devastated and deeply saddened.
Whilst the investigation still carries on, the Family of the deceased has requested privacy as they mourn. His story serves to remind others of the importance of protecting and valuing the lives of children.
