The community is mourning the sudden passing of Dylan Straughn. He was a 15-year-old sophomore of Moeller High School, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Colerain Township.
Dylan was taking a ride on his bike on October 5th when he was hit near Colerain and Daly Roads.
Emergency responders met him unconscious, but still struggling to live. His death was confirmed two days later by his family.
This week, Jehoshua Spence was found guilty of failing to wait after the accident and also driving with a suspended license.
He was indicted by a Hamilton County jury and asked to pay a bail of $10,000, with only 10% required for him to be released.
Prosecutors have it on record that Spence said he had thought he hit a deer.
Friends and teachers recall he was a teen full of life who was in the marching band, theater, and volleyball.
They mentioned his gift of compassion; he always smiled and always encouraged others.
Residents around the site of the crash had always had complaints about how the roads were narrow and had poor lighting.
The roads always have speeding cars and have been labeled as dangerous.
In December, the case is going to court. The community keeps mourning a young boy gone too soon and is still pushing for answers and safety measures in his honor.
