Senator Godswill Akpabio, Nigeria’s Senate President, has been honoured with the prestigious International Peace Award by the Global Peace Movement International.

Dr. Mike Uyi, President of the Global Peace Movement International, praised Akpabio for his vital role in reinstating Nigeria’s membership in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) after over 50 years, highlighting his dedication to raising Nigeria’s profile globally.

It acknowledges his leadership in promoting global diplomacy, and his efforts are inspiring a new generation of leaders. The award will be presented to him in August 2025.
