Raila Odinga, Kenya’s former prime minister and one of Africa’s most respected political figures, passed away at the age 80 after suffering a heart attack whilst in Kerala, India. This incident has left the world devastated and the era of the man many called “Baba” has come to an end.
Raila spent his life fighting for democracy and justice, born into a family of leaders. He faced a bunch of obstacles on his journey, but never once did he give up on his dreams of a free and fair Kenya. His courage and stance during the country’s fight for multi-party democracy made him a national hero.
Crowds filled the streets of Nairobi as his body returned home, waving flags and singing songs in his honor. All over Africa, leaders share emotional tributes, calling him “a true son of the Continent.”
The name Raila Odinga will forever be etched into the Country’s history as he stood for hope, resilience, and the fight for freedom, though he never became president. His voice may be gone, but his vision for a better Africa will continue to inspire generations to come.
