Oyo State has started a major crackdown on street trading and open grazing in its capital, Ibadan. The Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) says the days of warnings are over, it’s now time for action.
On Wednesday, a joint team led by retired Justice Aderonke Aderemi and retired DCP Francis Ojomo stormed Bodija Market. They removed roadside stalls, mini-counters, and goods that blocked the road. This follows months of awareness campaigns that started in January.
“People were warned. Now we are enforcing the law,” Justice Aderemi said.
In another move, the team responded to complaints from residents of Unique Estate, Oluyole. They seized three rams and one cow found grazing openly. The animals’ owner has just seven days to claim them—or lose them completely.
Also, people living in shanties at Abidiodan in Lagelu LGA were given a week to leave. Officials say the area has become a hideout for criminals.
The task force included Operation Burst, Amotekun, and the Ministries of Agriculture and Environment. Oyo State says it is serious about cleanliness, safety, and law and order.
Residents are now urged to follow the law or face the consequences.
