The Muscatine community is very sad after the death of 54-year-old Tony Eugene Cole. Friends say he could make a whole room feel lighter with just a smile.
Tony passed away on Monday at the University of Iowa Hospital. His family and community loved him deeply.
Tony was born and raised in Muscatine. He was known for small habits people will never forget—like waving at neighbors on his daily walks or asking how people were and really meaning it. He loved bowling and took part in Special Olympics events.
He often told relatives about medals he hoped to win next. Christmas was his favorite time, especially for the homemade noodles his Aunt Sherry made every year. He talked about them weeks ahead.
People close to Tony say he was gentle, joyful, and full of love for others. He is survived by his siblings and a large extended family who adored and supported him all his life.
The family thanks the New Choices care team, who treated Tony like family. They ask anyone who wants to honor him to support the organization he loved.
