The peace that existed in a neighborhood in Kansas City has been shattered by a violent tragedy that has aching hearts.
52-year-old Sherrie Baier was found dead inside her home in East Kansas City after a stabbing that is believed to have been a case of domestic violence.
The officers were dispatched to the location in the area of 27th Street and Quincy Avenue only a short time after the 10:30 a.m. mark.
Upon entering the residence, they saw that Sherrie had suffered severe injuries.
Unfortunately, she died in the area despite the best efforts of the emergency response team.
A person of interest was also apprehended while the detectives searched the house from top to bottom.
To loved ones, Sherrie Baier was much more than a name in a police report. “She was very warm, very talkative, and very caring,” describes a friend.
Laughter-filled moments, long conversations, and simple “how are you’s” are memories that will be cherished for life.
Some friends and relatives posted their condolences on various online forums.
Neighbors are gathering in a quiet but stunned manner around the house, praying, leaving flowers.
Many are crying out for justice and urging more recognition of the signs of domestic violence.
With the investigation ongoing, the spotlight is on remembering the life of Sherrie Baier—a life which has meaning, has been loved, and has not been, and must not be, forgotten.
