A quiet afternoon in southwest Atlanta turned into a crime scene after two teenagers were shot at the Villages of Cascade townhomes on Celeste Lane.
Police say the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday when two teens, ages 15 and 16, were allegedly attempting to steal packages from a porch. The homeowner, Rakim Bradford, confronted them, and gunfire followed.
Officers arrived to find the 15-year-old shot in the right foot and the 16-year-old shot in the arm. The older teen was rushed to surgery in critical condition but is expected to survive.
Bradford was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
While neighbors expressed frustration over rising package thefts, many were shocked that the confrontation ended in gunfire. Police continue to investigate the case.
