Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has finally declared peace with his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, after meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Villa in Abuja.
Fubara, dressed in a simple white caftan and black cap, arrived at the Presidential Villa around 6:22 p.m. on Monday. This was his first official visit since regaining his position as governor, following the end of the six-month emergency rule in Rivers State.
Speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with Tinubu, Fubara said his mission was mainly to thank the president for lifting the suspension and to seek guidance. “It was simply a father-son discussion,” he explained. “The president advised me on how best to move forward in governance.”
When asked about his relationship with Wike, Fubara was clear: “We have made peace. As far as I am concerned, Fubara and his principal are working together.”
The governor praised Tinubu for his “fatherly intervention” during the crisis and promised to work closely with the Rivers State House of Assembly to recover lost time and push the state’s development agenda.
Fubara’s visit shows a new phase of calm after months of political tension in Rivers.
