Joe Corrao, known and respected in the Lorain, Ohio, young News Archives – YonneTours community, passed away suddenly at his residence on December 14, 2025. He was 69 years old.
Within a considerable number of years, Joe Corrao spent his valuable time in youth baseball, more so in the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Youth Baseball Association.
They still remember him for his soothing voice behind the plate.
These kids remember the smile he wore on his face right before the start of the matches, the encouraging words he used when the kids felt a bit nervous.
For the kids, he was more than just a baseball umpire; he was a guide.
But outside of his work, Joe is remembered as a kind, reliable, and very connected member of the community.
He is described by his friends as a man who would show up for the game, the family gathering, or the stranger who needed the help of a neighbor.
Corrao had a very close relationship with his wife, Annette, and loved ones say that his service to the family defined his life.
A visitation will be held on December 21, with memorial donations to youth baseball in his memory.
The impact of Joe Corrao’s life extends into every ballpark where youth learned the game under his guidance.
