Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has accused the club of breaking promises, fueling his push to leave this summer.
Despite Newcastle rejecting Liverpool’s £110 million bid, the Swedish forward insists his relationship with the club has collapsed.
In a post on Instagram, Isak revealed: “Promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time… When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.” Reports suggest he informed Newcastle twice of his wish to leave, including before last season ended.
While many fans have criticized him, his Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has come to his defense.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, Tomasson described Isak as “extremely professional” and warned against judging too quickly, noting that football clubs often involve “a lot of politics” and unseen complexities.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are already lining up alternatives.
Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen is on their radar, along with Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, depending on other transfer movements.
With tensions rising, the saga now centers on whether Newcastle will hold firm or eventually allow their record signing to leave.
