The people of Lincoln are very sad after Kristine “Kris” Hess died. She was 61 years old. Kris was hit by a tow truck on Saturday night in northeast Lincoln. She died at the scene.
Kris worked with local nonprofits for many years. She did quiet work like sending late emails, fixing events at the last minute, and encouraging nervous volunteers. She kept a small notebook where she wrote down birthdays to remember to check on people.
Friends say Kris stayed after meetings to help clean up, like stacking chairs. She also brought extra gloves for winter events, in case anyone needed them.
When Kris died suddenly, her coworkers, friends, and others in the community were very sad. Many shared memories online about how Kris made them feel important during hard times.
The police are still looking into the crash. The community is sad but thankful for the kindness Kris showed so easily.
Kristine “Kris” Hess is remembered as a bright light, a caring leader, and a woman who touched many lives.
