A 27-year-old woman remains in critical condition in the hospital after being struck by a Jessamine County Sheriff’s deputy. The tragic incident occurred on the evening of March 7 in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
Molly Svoboda and her boyfriend, Kenny Schomp, were returning home after watching a college basketball game in Lexington. Svoboda suddenly felt ill during the drive.
She asked to get out of the vehicle and walk the rest of the way. Schomp dropped her off near several businesses along Wind Haven Drive, believing she was feeling better. She never made it home.
Less than an hour later, local police received a distress call about a woman needing assistance. A deputy responded to the scene to search the area. While driving through a local parking lot, the deputy accidentally struck Svoboda with his patrol vehicle. He immediately called for emergency backup and administered first aid.
Authorities are actively investigating the exact circumstances leading up to the collision to determine what went wrong. Meanwhile, her family and friends are anxiously awaiting answers and praying for her full recovery.
