The family of a 23-year-old British woman is demanding justice after she was fatally shot by her father during a trip to Texas. Lucy Harrison died in January 2025 while visiting her father, Kris Harrison.
The tragedy happened just before Lucy was scheduled to fly home. Earlier that day, the two argued about politics and gun control. Friends say Lucy was strongly against firearms.
Shortly before leaving, Kris took Lucy into his bedroom, claiming he wanted to show her his handgun. Seconds later, a gunshot rang out.
Lucy suffered a fatal wound to the chest. Her father, who admitted to drinking that day, claimed the weapon fired accidentally.
A Texas grand jury declined to press criminal charges. However, in February 2026, a British coroner reached a different conclusion. The coroner officially ruled Lucy’s death an “unlawful killing,” citing gross negligence. The coroner stated Kris acted recklessly and likely pointed the loaded gun directly at her.
Lucy’s grieving mother is now publicly calling for Texas authorities to reopen the case, feeling that true justice has not yet been served.
