The community of Mantua, Virginia, is completely heartbroken after a devastating and violent tragedy tore a family apart. Early in the morning on February 23, 2026, 33-year-old Mamta Thapa and her 52-year-old mother, Binda Thapa, were fatally stabbed inside their home.
The terrifying attack was carried out by Mamta’s father, 54-year-old Chhatra Thapa. Mamta’s husband, who had been outside clearing snow from his car, rushed inside when he heard the chaos.
He bravely tried to stop the attack but was also stabbed and left with severe injuries. Thankfully, Mamta’s one-year-old son, who was inside the home during the violence, was not physically harmed.
When police arrived, the suspect refused to drop his weapon and continued the assault, leading an officer to fire his weapon and fatally wound him.
Mamta was a dedicated nurse and an online content creator who loved sharing her journey of motherhood with her followers. Today, neighbors and friends are mourning the unimaginable loss of these two loving women whose lives were taken far too soon.
