The sad news was shared by her colleague, Akinola Akano (Segbowe), who posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. In their last conversation, Omotola had reassured him that she was recovering from a brief illness, making her passing even more shocking.
Segbowe expressed his disbelief, saying, “Motola! You told me you were fine. This is a rude shock. Journey well, sister. God be with your family.
” The actress, known for her standout roles in films like Lisabi: The Uprising and Amonata, was deeply loved by fans and peers alike.
Veteran actor Odunlade Adekola also shared his sorrow, stating, “Jesus Christ. RIP Omotola.”
Her death is a heartbreaking loss for Nollywood, especially the Yoruba film sector, where she had gained recognition for her talent and authenticity.
