The city of Washington D.C. experienced a very scary situation on Monday afternoon. An 18-year-old man from Georgia was safely arrested after approaching the United States Capitol with a loaded shotgun.
Police saw the teen, identified as Carter Camacho, near the Lower West Terrace wearing a tactical vest. Officers acted very quickly to order him to the ground and secure the weapon. Thankfully, no shots were fired and no one was hurt during the incident.
Police also found extra ammunition on him, as well as a gas mask and helmet in a nearby parked car. Even though Congress was not working at the time, tourists were very shaken by the sudden emergency. Carter now faces several serious charges while police investigate why he brought a weapon to the Capitol.
