A quiet Thursday afternoon in East Cleveland turned sad. Jamir Peak, 17, was stabbed and killed while trying to stop a fight at a train station. Jamir was a student at North Shore High School. Friends say he was kind, calm, and always quick to help others.
The incident happened on December 11, 2025, just after 1 p.m. It took place at the Superior Red Line station. Police say Jamir stepped in when a fight started between teenagers. Witnesses say he was not part of the argument. He only wanted the fighting to stop.
During the fight, a 56-year-old woman named Geraldine Johnson allegedly pulled out a knife. She stabbed Jamir in the chest. Emergency crews took him to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, but he did not survive. Another teenager was injured but was later released.
Police arrested Johnson at the scene. She is now facing charges for reckless homicide and assault. She remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
Jamir’s family says he had a big heart and always stood up for others. His mother said he died doing what he believed was right.
