A quiet Saturday night turned sad for a community in Missouri. A house fire took the life of 9-year-old Sahara Barrow. The fire started late on December 13 at a home on Odessa Drive. This is in Bellefontaine Neighbors, near St. Louis.
Calls for help came in around 9:30 p.m. People saw heavy smoke and flames. They believed a child was trapped inside.
Firefighters hurried to the scene. They fought through heat and thick smoke to find Sahara. She was found in her bed. Rescuers rushed her to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, but she sadly did not survive.
Investigators think the fire started by accident. They are still looking for the exact cause.
Friends say Sahara was full of life. She was cheerful, kind, and always smiling. People remember her laughter.
Neighbors have placed flowers and notes near the home. The community is supporting the family. They are remembering a young girl whose life ended too soon.
