Former Lagos Labour Party governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has dismissed the idea of working with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political structure, describing it as “a complete waste of time.”
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Rhodes-Vivour said his mission in politics is to improve the lives of Lagosians, not to align with power for personal gain.
He stressed that Lagos was already a thriving city with a rich history long before Tinubu’s influence, adding that the belief that every successful politician must “bow” to Tinubu shows poor knowledge of Lagos politics.
Rhodes-Vivour also reminded Nigerians that since 2016, he has remained consistent in opposition and never aligned with the APC. According to him, Lagos can only move forward when what he described as “agberocracy” is dismantled.
He concluded by saying any platform that does not put the welfare of Lagosians first is not worth his time or energy.
His comments have sparked fresh debates online, with many young Nigerians praising his boldness.
