The Sumter town remains watchful as the community looks out for 14-year-old Rakim Durnt. He went missing after departing his house on Bee Street around 1:45 pm on December 7, 2025. His household said he was gentle, respectful, and never missed his check-in calls; his sudden disappearance was alarming.
His mother could still remember how Rakim went out putting on light-blue jeans and a gray hoodie, saying he would be back soon. The mother said that the assurance he made has echoed painfully for the past few days.
The detective shared information about his stature, which was 5.6, 125 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. Local officers and volunteers from the community have scouted the area, knocking on doors and reviewing any available footage. Officers shared that a little help could turn everything around.
The Police Department of Sumter advised everyone who may have seen her to reach out to them immediately by calling 803-436-2700 or 911 if outside. Resident in the community, colleagues at school, and church members started a search group, praying for Rakim’s safe return as the leaders of the community said every moment counts, and the more people in search of him, the better the chances of his returning.
Neighborhoods are told to share the missing case across all platforms. Hope remains strong as the search continues.
