The community near Gig Harbor, Washington, is completely heartbroken after a devastating and violent tragedy. On the morning of February 24, 2026, a horrific stabbing attack took the lives of four women outside a home on the Key Peninsula.
Authorities identified the suspect as Aleksandr Shablykin, who was 32 years old, rather than 25. Tragically, one of the victims was his own mother, 52-year-old Zoya Shablykina. The three other women killed were beloved community members who were reportedly trying to help.
When police arrived at the terrifying scene, Aleksandr was still armed and refused commands to drop his weapon, leading a deputy to fatally shoot him.
Court records show a deeply troubling history before the attack. Zoya had previously asked a judge for a protective order against her son because of his severe mental health struggles and terrifying threats, including telling her that her grave had “already been dug.”
Family members shared that he had recently stopped taking his medication for bipolar disorder. This unimaginable loss has left neighbors and loved ones stunned and grieving.
