A 38-year-old man named Mychael V. Thompson is facing a murder charge in Las Vegas. Police say he shot and killed his roommate, Antwon Watson, during a tense argument inside their apartment.
Officers responded to multiple 911 calls on the morning of February 12. When they arrived at the scene, they found Watson lying in a nearby parking lot with a severe gunshot wound. Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital, but he tragically died from his injuries.
Investigators believe the deadly situation may have started over jealousy and suspicion of an affair. Thompson’s girlfriend told police the two men had been arguing earlier that morning. Their disagreement involved alcohol use and rising tension inside the home. A neighbor’s security camera also captured a confrontation between the two roommates.
According to the police report, a single gunshot was heard inside the apartment. Watson managed to run outside before collapsing in the parking lot. Thompson fled the scene before officers could arrive to help.
Police later tracked Thompson’s vehicle and took him into custody. When questioned by detectives, he gave unclear answers. At one point, he even claimed he could not remember what had happened.
Watson’s grieving family shared that he trusted Thompson and had only been staying with him temporarily. A judge has ordered Thompson to remain in custody without bail as the legal case moves forward.
