The Miami community in northeast Oklahoma is very sad after the death of 29-year-old Taylor S. Williams. He was known for his gentle personality and easy smile.
Taylor was killed in a violent head-on crash on Wednesday night. Friends, family, and neighbors are struggling to accept that someone so warm is gone.
Troopers say the crash happened around 9:45 p.m. on County Road 137, south of County Road East 93. Taylor’s car crossed the center line and hit a commercial vehicle driven by 38-year-old Donna Helms from Girard, Kansas. The impact was very severe.
Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene because he was not wearing a seat belt. Helms survived and went to a hospital.
People who knew Taylor say he made strangers feel like friends. They remember small things like his soft wave or how he recalled details about your day. One friend said Taylor “could make a room lighter without trying,” which made him special in a close community.
Miami is mourning together. Neighbors share stories, cook meals for the family, and post photos and prayers online. The investigation is ongoing, but the grief is deep. Those close to Taylor say his kindness will live on in the people he touched.
