The communities of Bryantown and Port Tobacco are very sad after Benjamin Thomas Mattingly died. He was 22 years old. Benjamin died Saturday evening in a single-car crash on Olivers Shop Road.
His family and friends are shattered and struggling to understand how such a young, kind, and hopeful person could be lost so suddenly.
Deputies say Benjamin’s car went off the road around 7:30 p.m. and hit a tree. First responders found him outside the car, but even with quick help, he was declared dead at the scene.
To those who loved him, Benjamin was much more than a name in a report. He was the bright smile that lifted moods, the friend who truly listened, and a young man with big dreams and a gentle heart. People who grew up with him say he made others feel valued, even during their hardest times.
