
The Lagos State House of Assembly is in mourning following the death of Hon. Victor Akande, a former representative of Ojo Constituency I, who passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa described Hon. Akande’s death as a great loss to both the Assembly and Lagos State. He praised Akande’s dedication, calling him a passionate lawmaker who served the people with honesty and strong legal knowledge.
Akande, who served two terms from 2015 to 2023, was best known for his work as Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and LASIEC. Speaker Obasa noted that Akande worked tirelessly to improve the legal system, defend human rights, and promote fair elections.
“His passing reminds us of how fragile life is. We will remember him for his integrity and the positive impact he made,” the Speaker said.
He extended heartfelt condolences to Akande’s family, friends, and constituents, assuring them that the Assembly stands with them in this time of grief and will honour Akande’s legacy.
