Kemi Badenoch, the UK Conservative Party leader, has recently revealed that she no longer considers herself Nigerian, despite her upbringing in the country.
Born in London, she spent most of her childhood in Nigeria and later moved to the US. However, she emphasized that she no longer holds a Nigerian passport and hasn’t renewed it in over 20 years.
In an interview on the Rosebud podcast, Badenoch shared that while she is Nigerian by ancestry and birth, she doesn’t feel a connection to the country anymore.
She explained that her home now lies in the UK, with her family, husband, and children.
Badenoch also reflected on the political and economic challenges that led her family to move back to the UK when she was 16, where she found a new sense of belonging.
