The community of Oakland County is very sad after a terrible tragedy on Friday evening. A 4-year-old girl passed away after drowning in a pool at the Deer Lake Athletic Club.
On January 30, the young girl was one of six children left to play in the water with floating toys. Sadly, two women went to the club’s bar area, leaving the children, ages 4 to 12, alone for about 35 minutes. There were clear signs warning that no lifeguard was on duty and that young children must always have an adult with them.
The little girl’s older sister pulled her from the water. Kind strangers and paramedics rushed to help and performed CPR, but tragically, she passed away at the hospital. Police say this is a heartbreaking loss, and they are currently looking closely at the case.
