A community in Shreveport is grieving the loss of Cali “Kitty” Agent. She was a 14-year-old girl who died just weeks after her birthday. Friends and family often called her “Cali Kitty.”
She was hit by a car on Monday evening while crossing Hearne Avenue near Regent Street.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on December 15. Police say Cali was trying to cross the road quickly. A 2007 Toyota Corolla hit her. Emergency crews rushed her to a nearby hospital. Doctors tried to save her, but she died less than an hour later.
Cali was an eighth-grade honors student at Magnolia School of Excellence. Her mother described her as gentle and bright. She loved animals, especially cats. She also loved music and enjoyed talking about K-pop groups. Friends say her smile made people feel welcome.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. Investigators say drugs or alcohol were not involved. The case is still under review.
People have placed flowers, candles, and notes near the road where Cali was hit. As Shreveport mourns, many people are asking for safer street crossings. They are remembering a young girl whose kindness left a lasting mark.
