Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has officially announced his intention to seek re-election for a second term in office.
The announcement came on Monday during a meeting with members of the Central Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s secretariat in Ado-Ekiti.
In his declaration, Governor Oyebanji expressed his desire to build on the progress made during his first term, saying he aims to continue delivering quality governance and to strengthen the gains of his administration. He also acknowledged the overwhelming support he has received from across the state, which encouraged him to seek another term.
“The APC in Ekiti remains one big family,” the governor stated, emphasizing his commitment to internal party democracy. He assured party members that they would continue to receive recognition and respect, noting that any interested candidate within the APC was free to contest for the governorship ticket.
Governor Oyebanji also called on Ekiti citizens to ensure they have their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the election in June 2026, urging them to actively participate in the democratic process.
The governor expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support, noting that the President’s economic policies have contributed significantly to Ekiti’s rapid development.
In response, Sola Elesin, the APC chairman in Ekiti, commended Governor Oyebanji’s leadership, describing him as a unifying figure whose humility and commitment to the state’s growth have made him beloved by party members and citizens alike.
As Ekiti prepares for the 2026 elections, the political landscape remains vibrant, with the governor’s achievements and inclusive leadership approach continuing to shape public sentiment.
