The town of Hillsboro, Texas, is very sad after a tragic accident early Monday morning. A driver was struck and killed on Interstate 35 while waiting for help.
Around 5 a.m., the driver ran out of gas and waited on the side of the road. A police officer stopped to help and left to buy gas for the stranded driver. Sadly, while the officer was away, a passing car hit the driver in the dark.
Emergency workers quickly rushed the driver to the hospital, but tragically, they passed away.
Police are now asking anyone who saw the accident to please speak up. This heartbreaking loss is a strong reminder to everyone of how dangerous dark highways can be.
