A Houston community and local law enforcement are mourning the tragic loss of Sheriff’s Deputy Kenneth Lewis. He recently passed away from severe injuries sustained in a hit-and-run crash while selflessly assisting a stranded motorist.
The fatal incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on Interstate 10 near Eldridge Parkway. Deputy Lewis had pulled over to help a driver on the side of the road. While he was outside of his patrol vehicle performing this routine act of service, a passing car struck him and quickly sped away from the scene.
Emergency responders rushed Deputy Lewis to a nearby hospital, where he fought for his life for several days before tragically succumbing to his injuries.
Colleagues and loved ones remember him as a highly dedicated and dependable officer who was always willing to help anyone in need, regardless of the situation.
The FBI has now joined the active investigation, working closely with local police to track down the responsible driver. Authorities are currently offering a reward for any information leading to an arrest and urgently request that anyone who may have witnessed the crash come forward.
Deputy Lewis will be deeply missed and forever remembered not just for how he died, but for his unwavering commitment to serving others until his very last moments.
