Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has sent a warm message to England women’s coach Sarina Wiegman after she won the Johan Cruyff Award for the best coach in the world at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Wiegman beat strong contenders, including Nigeria’s Super Falcons coach Justine Madugu, Arsenal’s Renee Slegers, Arthur Elias, and Sonia Bompastor, to take home the prize.
During her acceptance speech, Wiegman jokingly said she would love to celebrate her win with Burna Boy. “If Burna Boy is around, maybe we could do a bit of dancing,” she said, recalling how the artiste performed for the England players during their 2025 Euros trophy tour.
Burna Boy quickly responded on his X page: “Haha, I’m up for it Sarina! A huge congrats to you and the team.”
For many Nigerians, Wiegman’s mention of Burna Boy on such a global stage was another reminder of the singer’s rising influence worldwide.
