The people of Evansville are very sad after 14-year-old Alexander Hessler died. He was a student at Reitz High School.
Alexander died in a bad car crash on Sunday afternoon. The car he was in was going too fast. It went into the air and hit a tree. Four other people were hurt.
Alexander was sitting in the back seat. The crash threw him out of the car. He was taken to the hospital, but doctors could not save him. Friends say Alexander was kind. He waved to everyone in the hall and shared his snacks, even when he had little.
The crash happened on Orchard Road. Neighbors heard a loud noise and ran to help. Many people were scared and sad because of the crash.
At school, classmates leave notes, drawings, and blue ribbons, the school color, at the entrance. Teachers say Alexander was gentle, funny, and always tried to make people smile.
Police think the car was going too fast. The community wants to remember Alexander not for the crash but for his kindness. His family hopes people keep his good memory alive.
