Per multiple reports, the incident occurred in a small Michigan town where a 33-year-old bowling coach, Ryne Leist, the primary suspect, opened fire at the teen before turning the gun on himself and ending his own life.
The incident emerged from a Facebook post by Gwendolyn’s dad, Levi Smith. In his post, he explains that the bowling coach has been sending inappropriate messages to his daughter before the killing.

The incident has left the community devastated; per reports, Ryne was a volunteer coach for Bedford High School’s bowling club and took her life in her stepfather’s home. Authorities, after investigations were conducted, stated that Ryne passed from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Many have come out in their number to pay tribute to Gwendolyn Smith, with many remembering her for her talent and kindness.
