A quiet senior living community in Potomac, Maryland, is mourning a heartbreaking loss. Police have arrested 22-year-old assistant caregiver Marquise Emillo James. He is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 87-year-old philanthropist Robert Fuller Jr.
Authorities initially responded to a 911 call reporting a medical emergency at Fuller’s apartment. Upon arrival, officers discovered Fuller had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. This immediately turned the routine medical call into a homicide investigation.
Investigators quickly reviewed security footage. The video showed a masked figure entering through a slightly open door and leaving moments later. Detectives connected this footage to James, who had been employed at the facility for just over four months.
During police questioning, authorities state that James confessed to the crime. Investigators also linked him to a separate incident involving a state trooper, adding further concern to the troubling case.
Robert Fuller Jr. is remembered as a generous man who cared deeply for others. His tragic death has deeply shaken residents in a place designed to offer safety and peace.
