Global music icons Burna Boy and Davido are leading the charge with five nominations each.
Burna Boy’s album No Sign of Weakness and Davido’s 5ive have earned them nods for the prestigious Album of the Year.
Their dominance extends to Song of the Year and Best Collaboration, with their chart-topping singles standing out on the continent.
Joining them at the top of the nomination table are South African DJ Maphorisa and Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto, both securing five nominations.
DJ Maphorisa’s Album of the Year and El Grande Toto’s viral hits Salgoat and Diplomatico made waves across Africa.
Nigeria’s street-pop sensation, Shallipopi, continues his rapid rise with four nominations, including Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year, signaling the rise of street music in Africa.
Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania and South Africa’s Tyla are also heavily represented, each scoring four nominations.
Nigerian stars Rema and Ayra Starr also received three nominations each, solidifying Nigeria’s dominance in the African music scene.
This year’s AFRIMA is particularly special for Nigeria, as it will be hosted on Nigerian soil.
