Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has stepped forward to correct reports about fellow actor Ibrahim Chatta’s recent bereavement.
Over the weekend, news spread online that Chatta had lost his biological son after he shared an emotional Instagram post that read: “Inna liLlahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on Dear Son. Champ.”
This sparked a wave of sympathy, with many believing the actor had lost his only child. However, Aiyeola clarified on Sunday through her verified Instagram handle that it was not Chatta’s biological son who died, but rather his godson, whom he loved and regarded as a son.
“Ibrahim Chatta didn’t lose his biological son but a godson who was also like a son to him. May his pure soul continue to rest peacefully. It’s been an extremely emotional ride so far. God have mercy,” she wrote.
Her statement has since calmed speculations and redirected condolences to the right context.
Fans and colleagues continue to send prayers for strength and comfort to Chatta and the bereaved family, urging the public to show compassion during this painful period.
