The Landmark Event Centre in Lagos was filled with excitement on July 19th, 2025, as more than 3,000 children gathered for the fifth edition of STEM Africa Fest.
The event, themed “AI for Good”, gave young Nigerians a chance to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) in fun and practical ways.
Children took part in workshops on coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, drone technology, science experiments, and virtual reality.
One of the highlights was a live AI demonstration by Malik Afegbua, creator of The Elder Series, who showed how artificial intelligence can be used for creativity and storytelling.
For many children, the chance to fly a drone, build a robot, or see AI at work was a life-changing experience. “This isn’t just about STEM,” co-founder Jadesola Adedeji said.
“It’s about unlocking potential and preparing young Africans for a tech-driven future.”
Adding to the excitement, a raffle draw brought smiles to many, with prizes such as a tablet and a smartwatch going home with lucky winners.
The atmosphere was filled with joy as children celebrated learning with play.
Since it began in 2021, STEM Africa Fest has reached over 20,000 children across Nigeria and Africa, showing that the future of the continent lies in innovation, creativity, and education.
Organised by 9ijakids and STEM-METS with support from partners like Access Bank, Oando, and First Bank, the festival continues to grow as one of Africa’s leading platforms for youth empowerment in technology.
