Three children were rescued in the Kurmin Mashi area of Kaduna State after a successful operation by security operatives. The rescue followed a complaint lodged by the victims’ families, who reported the abduction on August 25.
The children, identified as Aslam Umar Lukman, 14, Suleiman Umar Tanko, 12, and Aliyu Umar Tanko, 10, had been taken by their abductors, who demanded a N50 million ransom for their release.
Acting on intelligence, police operatives arrested one of the suspects, Richard Philip, 19, from Calabar Road, Sabon Layi, on August 26.
During interrogation, Philip confessed to his involvement in the crime and revealed that he had conspired with two other suspects, Ibrahim Ma’aruf, 18, and Abubakar Sadiq, 15, both from Kurmin Mashi.
The children were found unharmed at Philip’s residence, where they had been kept. The three suspects have since been arrested and provided helpful information to the police.
Security sources confirmed that the case would be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
This operation marks another significant step in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and crime in Kaduna, with authorities remaining committed to ensuring the safety of citizens and bringing perpetrators to justice.
The swift action by security forces has been praised, and the families of the victims are relieved to have their children back unharmed.
