What’s better than one P? Personally, I think it’s two Ps. These two exemplified the “two heads are better than one” lifestyle right before our very eyes. Peter (now Mr. P) and Paul Okoye (now Rudeboy) are pacesetters. Long before Afrobeats became a global wave, they were riding it, and they never left us behind on any ride.
The favourite Peter and Paul duo were notable for their blend of Afropop, R&B, hip hop, and dancehall. The “square” is made up of a soft P with smooth vocals, used for mid-tempo and love songs, Paul and the jiggy P with vibes for energetic dances and songs – Peter.
Do you know why their names are still being mentioned in 2025? Although the twin brothers are no longer doing music together, their songs will still make you dance alingo. They weren’t just a momentary rave. They made evergreen hits, songs that weren’t just bangers, but have evolved into becoming memories.
Let’s take a ride down memory lane. We’ll remember why we vibed then, and why they still make us vibe. Gen-Z isn’t left out. I know there’s a class of Gen-Z that can relate, and another class that’s just coming to the party. They’re men for all ages, so whether this is an introduction or a reintroduction, shall we?

7. Bank Alert
Best of P-Square
Think of this as an entry or a re-entry into the 2000s and 2010s. Let’s remember why we still dance to Alingo in 2025, with these hits from the dynamic duo, P-Square.
1. Do Me ft Waje
This was a hit track from their “Game Over” album from 2007. Taking the classic call and response style, they did a wild thing with the beats. It was nearly impossible to sit in a spot without swaying to the beats. It was a mildly explicit song. Think of a radio-friendly version of explicit. They didn’t do too much or too less.
The song went across Lagos to Accra and became an instant hit in the clubs and at parties. It was also one of the first Nigerian songs that got a continent-wide recognition. The now-famous singer and songwriter with powerful vocals, Waje, also gained prominence from this track.
2. No One Like You
A lady’s favorite. To date, it still butters you up and wakes up the butterflies in your stomach with its soft rhythm and heartfelt words. Another masterpiece from their “Game Over” album in 2007.
This one is a beautiful love song to an irreplaceable lover. They express gratitude to God for making them meet, and just as the title suggests, they’ve been to many places, but no one compares to her. Did you think only Shakespeare could write poetry?
We all love being one of one, don’t we? This is the song for a cozy romantic date, or even a wedding entrance, which is most popularly used for. It’s a timeless classic; more than a decade later, we still cherish the love anthem. They crown it with a beautiful, romantic video.
3. Personally
Our favourite song with a lot of “allies.” I snuck it into the intro, did you notice? Personally, professionally, intentionally, physically, radically, and other -allys, this was a banger. Basically, it’ll still make you dance in 2025.
Released as a single in 2013, it was also a part of their “Double Trouble” album in 2014. Personally wasn’t just for dance and vibes. All of those “-allys” came with a romantic undertone. They tell their special ones how they’ll treat them personally and intentionally.
It doesn’t stop there. The video style paid tribute to their idol, Michael Jackson, with their outfits, moonwalk dance steps, and choreography. A phenomenal hit that became one of their most viewed videos, with almost 150 million views on YouTube as of today.
4. Alingo
The 4-minute-long banger that is still echoing to date. Released in 2012, Alingo wasn’t just a song to dance to; it became a lifestyle. It gave life to the parties and even had its own customized dance steps.
Never mind our Ghanaian relatives who said we copied their Azonto, we know it’s always all love from them. Most importantly, we know they danced azonto.
They didn’t just give us a song to dance to; they gave us a dance routine alongside. It became another one of their most-watched videos, garnering over 50 million views on YouTube.
5. Chop My Money ft Akon
In case you ever hear that Nigerian men don’t spend on their lovers, let this be your proof that they do, even until their last kobo. “Chop my money” is pidgin for spend my money.
The feature of the international star, Akon, made it a global hit. We’ve already registered that they’re not just Mr Ps, but also with an R for Romantic. They took romance a notch higher with their braggadocio on this track. They don’t just love in words, but also in kind.
Okoye says naira, but the brothers are dollars. And guess what? They don’t mind their women “chopping” it. They say, “chop my money, ’cause I don’t care.” Those were their exact words. Little wonder the remix also amassed over 50 million views. Ballers like P-Square!
6. E No Easy ft J. Martins
A call to reflection. “E no easy” is pidgin for it is not easy, as we already know that life is full of ups and downs.
The message of this mid-tempo track, however, is not to dwell on the uneasiness of life, but to be grateful to God for the good and bad, and always rise after every fall. “E no easy… If e good or bad make we dey thank God.” That’s a profoundly moving message set to music.
E no easy was a single from 2009 that featured J. Martins. The message resonated so much with fans, as it is the truth in everyone’s life. It won the Best Video award at the 2010 MTV Africa Music Awards.
7. Bank Alert
Bank alert: credit only. It’s a known fact that P-Square are notable for flaunting their riches, and don’t we all love to see it? This is another one of those tracks.
This was especially delightful for fans because it dropped after a temporary split between the brothers. It was their official “we’re back” announcement. Little wonder it surpassed a million views on YouTube a few days after its release.
A rich blend of Igbo, pidgin, and English, they served us the best on this single. It was an enticing sampling of the great Onyeka Onwenu’s “Iyogo,” a celebration of women’s ageless beauty.
The central message was reassuring the woman that if she agreed to be with them, they could take care of her financially, because their bank alerts are gbagam (loud bangs) and their cheques don’t bounce. The best part is they didn’t try to choke her; they made sure to say it’s up to her. I know it feels like a familiar theme, but I dare you to listen to it without dancing. We love P-Square like that, please!
Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane. It is especially beautiful that even Gen Zs grew up listening to P-Square; they’re some of our favorites for a throwback.
A fun fact many don’t know is that before the fame, there was an almost-career in the game of football. We can’t call it a failure, because we probably wouldn’t have had all these hits if they ended up as footballers. Who says goals are only reserved for footballers? A win is a win.
Whether you’re now team Mr P or Rudeboy, we will all agree that P-Square PR is eternal– peas in a pod or not. Which song on this list made you dance hard, or is still making you move? Bring it on.
